History of the Tatuaje Havana VI
Pete Johnson founded Tatuaje cigars. The Havana VI debuted in 2006 and so as of this writing there has been 13 years of sales. The cigar was introduced with the collaboration from Pete Johnson and Jamie Garcia. Furthermore, the cigar is made in the My Father’s Cigar factory and it is a blend of dark tobacco with a mild to medium strength. In addition, the tobacco filler and binder comes from Nicaragua. While the wrapper is Ecuadorian.
I found this cigar online and did some research before I made the purchase. I talked with many cigar lovers about this cigar before I bought my box. There were a lot of great reviews. So I decided to give it a try. The cigar is Nicaraguan blend with Nicaraguan binder and filler. However, the wrapper is Ecuadorian. This cigar is rolled in Nicaragua with classic Cuban blending and a Cuban triple-cap according to the Tatuaje website.
Where Purchased
The cigar was purchased through The Famous Smoke Shop and you can find it HERE. As always there are discounts on the cigars and also the shipping but you can check that out later. Packaging was nice and as always well packaged with air wrap for safety and delivered without issues. The box was perfectly humidified.
Tatuaje Havana VI Cigar Review
As you can see form the picture the cigar is darker and with a single red band. I like the band as it is simple and nice. In some cigar circles it is good manners to remove the band so you do not seem pretentious with your cigar. However, with the band being simple you can smoke this one in any smoke shop without any pretentious vibes. As a matter of fact I have been asked on multiple occasions about a cigar I smoked because of the band. However, not this one at this time.
Preparing the cigar.
The beginning of the cigar has the cigar well humidified. Darker color but not a lot of oils on the wrapper. As always I cut the cigar with a double guillotine cutter that you can find HERE. Toasting the cigar with a nice jet flame lighter from Vertigo, which has a lifetime warranty.
Beginning of the cigar.
This cigar started off strong. Nice flavors of tobacco and deep black pepper taste. There was an earthy taste to the beginning. Smoke was plentiful but not too harsh. The draw was good to begin with. Also, the ash was nice at the beginning. It did not break and stayed attached nicely.
Middle of the cigar.
As the cigar was smoked the draw became hit or miss and had to be relit. I did not have to use a cigar poker so it wasn’t that bad. However, it was corrected and I was able to enjoy the smoke nicely. The taste continued with pepper but then some black currant flavor and still an earthy taste. Furthermore, the ash began to breakdown a little but was ok.
End of the cigar.
The end of the cigar became stronger. The earthy flavor remained. I had a nice little buzz going on from the strength of the tobacco. It mixed well with my coffee throughout the entire cigar. The ash remained good as you can see from the picture.
In Summary
Finally, this cigar was a great one to enjoy. The wrapper was darker but the binder and filler was a great mild to medium Nicaraguan tobacco. The smoke of the cigar was consistent throughout the hour it took to enjoy. This cigar was definitely added to the collection in my humidor. Do yourself a favor and check out this cigar here and see for yourself if you like it or not.
I hope this helps,
Doctor B.
