The Setting
Another warm day in North Carolina and it was time for a cigar. Recently I purchased a box of Perdomo Habanos which are aged in bourbon barrels. I had a few hours and decided to go ahead and partake in the cigar. What would I drink with the cigar though?
Of course it would have to be a bourbon because the cigars are aged in bourbon barrels. Therefore, I poured a beautiful glass of Eagle Rare bourbon and it is time to light up the cigar. Of course I am in my Cigar Room in my house because it is pretty hot outside and I want to stay in the air conditioning.
Perdomo Habano - The Beginning
The cigar is a very light brown cigar with a beautiful wrapper. It is a NIcaraguan cigar and has a very mild flavor. The cigar is prepped with a double guillotine cutter. The lighter of course is a Vertigo lighter which has a lifetime warranty. You can find one here. Lighting is easy and the first draw has a very subtle smoke flavor without any harsh contaminants.
Taking a sip of the bourbon blends beautifully with the cigar. The two compliment each other very well as there is a bourbon flavor to the cigar also. Cigar structure is very nice and has a good draw without too much filler or binder.
Perdomo Habano - The Middle
Watching the PGA Championship and sipping the bourbon while smoking this beautiful cigar makes for a great afternoon in May. The PGA championship is a wonderful tournament to watch and I am now in the middle of the cigar. Time flies when you have fun.
Furthermore, the draw continues to go very well and the flavor remains mellow. For those of you who do not know I have outfitted my Cigar Room/Bar in my home with an exhaust system as well as an air filtration system. You can check out my previous post here.
Perdomo Habano - The Last Third
The tournament is unfolding and it looks like it may go to a playoff. It is very exciting to watch how these professionals handle their nerves in the golf tournament. There is a taste of nutmeg and pepper within the cigar. It has been there throughout the cigar. In addition, the smoke is not harsh and has a beautiful aroma. I am now on my second glass of bourbon and it really is playing out for a nice championship. I am rooting for Justin Thomas or Will Zalatoris.
Perdomo Habano - The End
We are now in a playoff with the two golfers I am rooting for. Therefore, I am in a win-win situation, Ha.
My Perdomo Habano is coming to an end and it is not burning hot. It stays lit throughout the entire smoke. There were only a few ashes that had to be taken off of the cigar. Also, the ashes did not fly around and break apart. They came off in one nice smooth tube.
Justin Thomas just won the PGA championship and the cigar and bourbon was a great combination to watch the final round. The Eagle Rare Bourbon is an amazing find and it compliments the cigar beautifully. Hopefully, you can enjoy these two together like I did.
All the Best,
JB
