Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reserve Real Notes

Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reserve Real Notes

The Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reserve Real should be one of the top 5 cigars in your humidor.  This cigar looks great, smokes great and lasts a long time for full enjoyment.  Read my review on this great cigar and see what you think.

Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reseve Real-Introduction

Most do not know this but Romeo Y Julieta’s start began in Cuba about 140 years ago.  Furthermore, it was named after Shakespeare’s Masterpiece (as if you did not realize).  However, due to political issues and the Cuban Embargo they moved to the Dominican Republic.  Jose Seijas has been keeping a watchful eye over most of the cigar production.  So with his masterful touch these cigars are very close to their Cuban counterparts.

This is indeed one of my favorite cigars ever.  I first enjoyed this cigar about a year ago.  The first was a Toro and on the golf course. I fell in love at that time.  It stayed lit throughout the golfing round.  This was despite the putting it down to putt and hit the golf ball over and over.  Great flavor and a great enjoyable cigar.

Therefore, it was obvious that I had to write a review on this cigar.  Today was a Magnum 6 x 60, which of course is my new favorite size of cigar.

Where Purchased:

As with most of my cigars I get them from The Famous Smoke Shop.  This is a great cigar shop that always has a sale or a deal.  They back up what they sell and you can send back the bad stuff for a replacement.  The cigars are ALWAYS HUMIDIFIED perfectly and smoke great right out of the box.

Cigar Aficionado Rating:

The Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real received a well-deserved 91-rating noting: “Attractive, with nice oils, this cigar has a fine draw and a spicy, chewy flavor with hints of leather. It has a pleasant, cedary finish.”

Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reserve Real-Construction

This cigar has a blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco.  From the ligeros to the binder this is a beautiful blend of tobacco.  To top off the cigar the wrapper is Ecuadaorian Connecticut shade.  Hence, this just makes it stand out above most cigars.  The mild nature of the wrapper coupled with the stronger filler makes the blend amazing.

The smell of the cigar before lighting reminds me of wood and spice.  Furthermore, flavor form a cold draw was nice with a leather kind of touch to the palate.  A nice Macallan 12 year old was enjoyed with this cigar and it too was great.

Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reserve Real-The Smoke

Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reserve Real Notes As you can see this cigar is a lighter shade and well put together.  The band is a nice distinct red and fits well with the cigar.  A Magnum cigar was enjoyed and as you can see it is a 6 x 60 size cigar.

Preparing the Cigar

The cigar was prepared by a typical guillotine cutter.  Guillotine cutters open the end that much more and allows a better draw for me. This ensures that with a good draw there is a better chance the cigar will stay lit and not have to be relit over and over.

Beginning Of The Cigar

Prior to the smoke the foot was toasted properly and a nice amount of smoke began to move into the air.  Smells of cigar soon filled the atmosphere.  The initial draw was nice and stayed that way throughout the smoke.  Some hints of leather and spice.  Smooth beginning to a cigar.

Middle Of The Cigar

The middle of the cigar a nice change to other cigars because there was no need to work the cigar.  For this I mean that I did not have to relight the cigar and or work on the draw of the cigar to keep it lit.  This tells me that the construction was spot on and perfect.  Nice smooth blend of taste with a more coffee and still a peppery taste in the middle but not too harsh.

End Of The Cigar

At the end of the cigar I really wasn’t finished.  Not too hot or strong.  As it smoked till the end it stayed a nice smooth mild to medium cigar.  The same flavors of coffee, pepper and an earthy leathery taste remained throughout.  Of course this is a testament to the construction of the cigar.

Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reserve Real-Summary

This was a great experience to write and share this with you.  This cigar has truly become one of my favorite.  I personally do not like cigars too harsh, but this one is spot on medium.

The Romeo Y Julieta brand is amazing and this cigar is no different.  I enjoyed the Magnum but there are many sizes to choose from.  Smoking this cigar brings out the flavors of coffee, pepper and an earthy leathery flavor.  I enjoyed this cigar with a Macallan 12 year and that was a great choice.  This will be one of my go to cigars that will remain in my humidor and when it gets low it will get re-ordered.
